Scene Study at The Actors' Place

Honing skills through the work

In our Advanced Scene Study class, instructor Keith Flippen teaches something a little different each time.  such as work in tight close-up, inner monologue, suspending heightened emotion for horror and sci-fi films, physical and vocal characterization, dark comedy, etc. and other times he just works with students on crafting a strong arc and developing a scene.  Every class works from a different selection of scripts that Keith seeks out puts together.   Every student is responsible for reading all of the scripts so that comment and critique in class is grounded in the text.

The contractual commitment for this class is $240 for the 8 weekly sessions payable in installments if requested.  Class is held every Wednesday night from 7 - 10 PM.  All classes are recorded so that students may review their work and the critique between their 2-3 showings.  This class requires work outside of class meeting and rehearsing with your scene partner.  If you are willing and able to put in the work, this is an incredibly valuable class.

  • Next class "Character Arc over a TV season" begins May 15, 2019
  • The following class "Working in Closeup - Eyelines" will begin July 31, 2019
